Mina Afra is an Iranian born Australian painter based in Melbourne. With a diverse background that includes graphic design, teaching French, and gemmology, Mina embarked on her journey as a professional artist in 2020, committing to painting full-time. Her passion for painting was ignited during her formative years, inspired by observing her mother’s creation of oil landscapes. Equipped with a Bachelor of Graphic Design from Tehran University of Art, a Master of Teaching French (FLE), and a Gemmology Diploma from the Gemmological Association of Australia, Mina’s artistic evolution has been enriched by a broad spectrum of experiences. She has further developed her skills by participating in colour mixing and landscape painting courses, attending oil painting workshops conducted by various artists, and engaging in mentorship sessions with Nicole Kelly to explore the intricate interplay of colours in painting. Mina’s artwork is an expression of her profound connection with nature, capturing its rhythmic essence and fluidity. As she continues to explore and expand her artistic horizons, Mina Afra remains devoted to discovering her inner landscapes through painting the external one, seeking emotional truth over visual representation.
